RedBirds Game

We went to the Redbirds game on Friday night with several other SCO families. We sat over on the bluff (grassy area). Mary had a great time running around with Lucy. Rachel enjoyed watching the bright lights on the field.

I liked watching Heather take this picture because Mary really understood what it meant to have her picture taken with a friend. She scooted in close to Lucy and tried to smile and look at the camera.

Our First Garden

A few weeks ago we spent Saturday working outside in the flower beds, treating the lawn and putting in a garden. Murray was so nice and built the frame for the raised bed, dug up the grass, tilled the dirt and brought in new dirt! It is 12x4 and looks so great! Kristi came over and helped me plant the seeds. We put in cucumbers, carrots, onion, watermelon and zucchini. I am going to put in pepper and tomato plants, I just need to pick them up. Mary has enjoyed watering the garden and today our cucumbers started to come up. This was a really fun project and much more work than we anticipated.

Hopefully by the end of summer we will have more than popsicle sticks!

April 16th was 5 years ago I was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is a very special day for me and I always feel emotional because my decision truly changed the course of my life. My most precious blessings all stem from my choice to be baptized. The gospel brings me so much peace, perspective and joy. I simply can't imagine where I would be without it.

Applecrisp

We had the missionaries over for dinner this week and decided to make applecrisp for dessert. We tried out this new apple peeler/corer/cutter and it worked great! We had just as much fun making it as eating it.

Easter Dinner

Easter Sunday we had our friends the Landons over for dinner. It was the most amazing dinner because both of our girls slept through it allowing Murray and I to eat and talk, not the norm around here. We had ham, sweet potatoes, creamed corn, salad, rolls, jell-o and strawberry shortcake for dessert. It turned out so well! I wish I took a picture of the table because it was pretty. I used dishes than can break and candles, also not the norm these days. Mary woke up in time to play with her friends. It was so fun!
Murray preparing the ham. Which made for many yummy leftovers!

4 months old

Rachel turned 4 months old and celebrated with a well baby check up. Dr Hayes is her pediatrician and Rachel was all giggles for him. Then the nurse came in with those ouchie immunizations and the trauma began. Rachel is now running a bit of a fever and recognizes the tylenol bottle. She grimaces when she takes her medicine, it is funny and cute. The good news is she is 16 1/2 lbs (95%) and 25 inches long/tall (75%). She is as sweet and cute as can be.

Happy Easter

This Easter was full of fun! Mary went on two Easter egg hunts, decorated eggs for the first time, wore bunny ears around with Rachel, ate way too much candy and received a special easter egg dress from Dana next door.

Thumb Sucker

Rachel has recently found her thumb to suck on. I think it is pretty wonderful and very cute! I have to say it is a bit endearing since I was a thumbsucker also.

A Teaching Moment

Mary spends a little time each day playing in her toy room by herself. I went to take a peek and found her holding a picture of Jesus with some children and teaching her stuffed animal the primary song "Jesus Came to John the Baptist" which she learned in nursery. Apparently she wants to be the nursery song leader. I appreciate her nursery leaders making nusery such a fun experience, they are GREAT!

I'll Take Care of You

Mary likes to watch Murray pick the lint out between Rachel's toes and yes, I do bathe Rachel but she just collects stuff between her toes and fingers. Now Mary really enjoys seperating each of Rachel's toes and clearing them of fuzz. Mary also does this to her own toes and tries to do it to mine but I don't let her. I think it is pretty funny.
