Brewsters Ice Cream

After swimming we stopped for our favorite treat, Brewters ice cream. Mary got a free children's cone which was made to look like a face with candy eyes and sprinkles for hair. Mary said "yummy yummy".

Mary's First Haircut

Mary has been needing a haircut for some time now but I had several reasons for postponing it. I was too scared to attempt it myself, I didn't know where to take her and I didn't know how she would respond. I found a place in Memphis called "Sweet and Sassy", made an appointment and off we went. Mary was very excited and felt comfortable the moment she walked in. The chair was just her size and the place was decked out to be a little girls dream. Mary sat so still and watched Hannah Montana on her own t.v. The girl cutting her hair did a great job and gave Mary a cute bob. I wish we had gone months ago! Mary even got glitter at the end and a lollipop!

Summer Fun

The heat has been intense! 90 degrees and 105 degrees with the humidity! We do have to break out of the house and when we do it usually includes swimsuits, hats, sunscreen and WATER! Here are the girlies on a typical afternoon, CUTE!

Teething cookies

Everything Rachel holds goes right to her mouth. My friend Luna gave me a great recipe for teething cookies and they are a hit at our house! Rachel loves gumming them! Mary ate one and hasn't asked for another since. Perfect! Rachel lifted her tummy off the ground today. We are excited to see if she will crawl anytime soon.

Sitting Pretty

Here Rachel is doing the tripod thing but she really can situp without looking like a little monkey. I just LOVE this chubby baby!

Blueberry Pickin'

The girls and I went with some friends to pick blueberries in Nesbit. Mary did well at picking the ripe berries and not the green ones. Sadly, she dumped them out of her bucket. We still picked an entire bucket and a bit more. It was overcast which was great but still incredibly humid! We made blueberry pancakes and they were very yummy, muffins are in the works. There are still 5 weeks left to go and pick berries. We will most likely head back for more.
An entire bucket was only 11 dollars! I guess I should factor in that we did provide the labor.

It was Rachel's morning nap time and she LOVES being wrapped up in this piece of cloth. This white wrap is a survival tool around our house these days.

Sisters

This week Mary made a slight change in some words to a song we are all familiar with. It went as follows:
You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not Pout
I'm tellin' you why
Jesus Christ is coming to town
The girls and I have colds and feel pretty miserable. It is difficult taking care of sick children when you don't feel well either. We went to the doctor yesterday and it looks like we have a virus we have to wait out. We found out Rachel is 19 lbs 3oz and Mary is 32 lbs and getting taller.

Stone Soup

Mary and I were weeding in the garden together when she stood up and said "hold on mommy, be right back." She came running back outside with a big book called "Stone Soup". I love how she remembers things and can communicate them to me. I use to read this book as part of a lesson for language therapy. We would read the book and make vegtable soup. I hope are garden actual produces some vegetables so Mary and I can make some things together.

Murray noticed us and decided to take a few pictures.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day we had some friends over. I made pulled pork for the first time. Murray loves eating pulled BBQ pork so I gave it a try and it turned out pretty well. Murray said it is a repeater recipe. It is super easy you just have to think of it 14 hours or so ahead of time. Thanks to the Williamsons and Lants for hanging out with us. We had a great time!
Mary's first sparkler!

Rachel was taking a nap and missed out on this picture.

Video of Mary making Rachel laugh

We heard some laughing in the other room and hurried to see what was happening. This is what we found. We loved it. Rachel is such a happy little girl and Mary is a great big sister.
